Cancer continues to have a profound impact on individuals, families, and communities throughout the United States and around the world. In 2026, an estimated 2.1 million new cancer cases and more than 626,000 cancer deaths are expected in the United States. At the same time, advances in cancer detection, treatment, and survivorship are allowing more people to live longer after a cancer diagnosis. As of January 1, 2025, approximately 18.6 million Americans were living with a history of invasive cancer.
On Saturday, October 3, 2026, the John Lancaster, W. Cecil Short Charity Foundation (JL&WCS Charity Foundation), in collaboration with the Tau Lambda Lambda Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., will host the 6th Annual Cancer Survivors Masquerade Ball at the Waldorf Jaycee's in Waldorf, Maryland.
This special evening will honor cancer survivors, celebrate that currently battling cancer, and remember those whose lives have been impacted by this disease. The event will also recognize individuals, families, organizations, and community partners whose compassion, support, and commitment have helped make a difference in the lives of cancer survivors and their families.
Guests will enjoy an evening of dinner, live entertainment, dancing, and community fellowship while supporting efforts that provide resources, hope, and assistance to local cancer survivors and their families.
